This years Keyworth Show took place on one of the hottest days of the year.  A large turnout of the village made a great day out.  As usual the Scouts provided the hotdogs, mushy peas and cold drinks.

The scouts had the same position near the car park again this year, which was near the music! very loud especially when we didn’t know the songs!  Inside the tent was like a sauna again but as always we have a lot of laughs.  This year we managed to sell out of hot dogs unlike last year when we sold out of mushy peas.  Perhaps we will get it right next year!  I think people have just managed to find us this year after being moved last year.

The allotment team of Richard, Joan, Robin, Martin and James managed to win some prizes.  Second for potatoes, third for peas and raspberries.  Boddington managed get into the act by having his photo taken helping them.

The Scouts were the holders of the adult tug of war having won last year.  This years team of Richard, Karl, Graham, Peter, Oliver unfortunately couldn’t retain the trophy.  They made it through to the final but lost to the rugby club.    This year they had an U14 tug of war team.  Our team was made up of Colin, Edward, James, Harry S and Harry H.  They pulled themselves into the final without any problems as the other teams were all made up of primary school children.  In the final it was a slightly one sided pull with the scouts winning after two pulls.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped with the show.  People helped putting up and taking down marquees, peeling onions, setting up, cooking, serving, washing up and putting equipment away.  We are very lucky that so many committee members, leaders and parents help.  However, we are always looking for extra help.  Some of these people have children in Explorers and some now have no children with the group.

Look forward to seeing you at next years show.
